Potholes are one of the biggest curses to road users. They cause expensive damage to motor vehicles and can cause severe accidents to cyclists and motorcyclists.
Whilst other roads in Louth are being resurfaced, one road that is falling into disrepair is St. Bernards Avenue, a busy street with several hundred houses and one of the main link roads.
Local District Councillor Ros Jackson has started a petition so that Lincolnshire County Council will take action and properly repair this road.

Thanks for covering this issue, an issue that is getting worse with each and every day. St. Bernards Avenue is now a very dangerous road indeed and is probably one of the worst (busy) roads in the area. All the main emergency services are based at the end of the road and have to use this road on a regular basis, and I would imagine the state of the road slows their progress to any emergencies. However, what I don’t understand is why a perfectly decent piece of road, that being Wood Lane was resurfaced when St Bernards is in far worse fettle. The cynic in me is beginning to believe that LCC will not touch St Bernards because it is part of a council estate and is not politically advantageous to maintain an area like this. What they don’t seem to understand is that we all pay the same road tax and the road is used by many others from different parts of town.
Asides from resurfacing, St. Bernards, Wood Lane/ Stewton Lane need to be reclassified as a main road and appropriately lit.
Something needs to be done before a serious accident happens.

Thanks for your comments re this. Your “cynical” opinion is I feel near the truth and that is not just my opinion neither. The petition recently carried out by our local Councillor, Ros Jackson is being presented I believe in November so hopefully something will happen but I fear it will be at least 2018 before it happens.
