After a few days of depressive illness where I couldn’t see anyone or go out of the house, I woke up this morning with a positive attitude that Today’s The Day I shake myself off and at least get up and get one constructive thing done.
To people without anxiety and depression, then that may sound a bit like “Huh? Whats so special about that, I do multiple things every day without fuss?”
To someone who suffers from such, it is often a struggle just to get out of bed and if you do, bed seems like a much cosier place than trying to face the world.
My day so far…
I woke up, had a play with the dogs in the garden, got a shower, got dressed and two parcels came. (A typical day to most people so far).
In one parcel was a new microswitch for the dishwasher which stopped mid-cycle a few days ago and refused to work – after investigating, it was said microswitch that had broken so was telling the dishwasher the door was open. Out comes my tools and the dishwasher is now repaired and re-washing a full load of half washed pots as happy as anything.
In the post was a pack of new hoover belts as my trusty 5 year old Tesco vacuum cleaner had stopped working also a few days ago with a horrendous burning smell – turned out the belt had shredded itself. A new belt later and my lounge is now dog hair and dust free.
Excellent day so far – my reward, a walk into town, coffee and a few bits of shopping.
Heck I feel good today…BUT and there is the but, tomorrow it may be good (I hope) or it may be a bad day. Depression just hits you out of the blue when you least expect it.
