Louth County Hospital

What a varied week – beauty and the local hospital

Once again a rather random blog post but it summarises my week..

Beauty

After previously meeting someone who used to live in the village where I grew up, she introduced me to a range of premium beauty products by Temple Spa. I tried some samples previously and can honestly say my skin improved all most overnight. Whilst I normally shop for budget brand products, I decided to treat myself as my age is starting to show in my face.

I’ll let you know how I get on.

Louth Hospital

Louth County HospitalI attended a meeting this week regarding the threat of closure of my local hospital which over the years has been reduced from a busy thriving general hospital with many different specialities and an Accident and Emergency department to one with limited staff, only an Urgent Care Centre and massive ward closures. For the remaining services visit this website

Unfortunately due to the planned cuts to the NHS (codenamed Sustainability and Transformation Plans), our local hospital is at risk of closure with services already being cut further or farmed out completely to other health trusts and private companies.
Many politicians (including our current Health Minister) claim the STP will revolutionise the way the NHS delivers care. In reality (in my opinion), it is a cloak-and-dagger method of forcing the NHS to fail by cutting services to the core, then selling whats left to private companies.

FACT: Did you know that a large number of buildings that are used for NHS services are actually owned by a private company who rents them back to the NHS.

With it serving not only Louth, but villages in a 20-30 mile radius and the increasing population, it needs to be restored to the former status, NOT CLOSED DOWN.

FACT: Within the Louth, Lincolnshire area, the nearest Accident and Emergency is 25 miles, or 40 minutes drive away. An Ambulance can come from as far away as Nottingham or Leicester, meaning in an emergency, it can take at least 90 minutes to get to the single A&E department at Lincoln.

I’m hoping someone will comment on this and tell me I am wrong but this has opened my eyes somewhat and I vow to join the fight to save this. There are further meetings, vigils and protests planned to highlight this important issue.
