As I suffer from several illnesses that require repeat medication I tried to request a repeat from the Pharmacy and was told I would need to see my GP as my medication is for review.
No problem, simply ring my GP surgery and get it reviewed or whatever. This is where the horror started….
After waiting in the queue for 10 minutes on hold to be told to ring 999 for chest pain or collapse repeatedly, my call was answered only to be told that my medication CANNOT BE REVIEWED due to a…wait for it……
Four to Six Week waiting list for review appointments. Are you serious!
I require regular medication for my Epilepsy, a hormonal imbalance and depression, not simply some Paracetamol – I blogged a while back about this. My stance is still the same – If you want paracetamol, hay fever tablets, diarrhoea medicines and the like, don’t get it on repeat from the GP “free of charge”, but for a few pence from a supermarket or chemist. While you are in the queue for a repeat review of over-the-counter medicines, people with life critical illnesses are having to wait without their medication due to “safe prescribing protocol”- yes I mean those with Epilepsy, diabetes, heart issues etc.
I will update this blog with actually how many weeks I have to wait, and how many days I am without my necessary prescription only medication THAT I PAY FOR!
Sorry if the last couple of paragraphs offend some people but I am angry and don’t really care, given that if I have an epileptic seizure, I will lose my driving license (livelihood) and maybe if in my car, injure or kill some family just so the free of charge paracetamol get their pills at the cost to the NHS and taxpayer.
